“Send Out a Prayer” by Anointed

I heard this song this morning and wanted to pass the lyrics along…

You try to say that nothing’s wrong
but my heart can feel right through your camaflouge
don’t try to tell me you’ll be strong
I’ve been there too I know this road is hard oh yeah

when the ache feels stronger
than the strength you feel inside
it’s there in your weakness
his grace will abide

Just let me send out a prayer, a cry
for help to heaven from me
Just let me send out a prayer,
Speak hope into despair for you

Let me send out a prayer for you

We’re to help each other, weather these storms together
In the name of love.
That’s what friends are all about. Here to help each other out.
When the push comes to shove.

I’ll pray you through anything that you face.
Don’t worry about a thing. Cuz I’ll plead your case.

Just let me send out a prayer a cry,
for help to heaven from me.
Just let me send down a prayer
speak hope into despair for you

No need to worry cuz I’m in your corner.
No matter how the road may turn.

I’ll pray you through anything that you face
Don’t worry about a thing cuz I’ll plead your case.

Send out a prayer, a cry
for help to heaven from me.
Just let me send out a prayer, a cry
for help to heaven from me.
Send out a prayer for you, send out a prayer for you

Gift wrapped for Christmas

I was thinking earlier, why exactly do we wrap our gifts? Is it to hide what we’re giving until the right time to be revealed? Is it to make it that much more appreciated when it is opened? Or perhaps just to confuse those who don’t know exactly how to wrap a dress shirt for dad without one of those department store boxes specifically designed for that reason; which for some reason you forgot to ask for when you made the purchase? The more I thought, the best gift of all time had to be wrapped before giving. God sent His only Son down to earth that we may be made alive again. How did He do this you might ask? Well, by wrapping him in a special type of wrapping, the skin of a human being.

Coming to earth as fully God and fully man, Jesus’ arrival is why we celebrate Christmas. And by living a perfect life without fault could take our place in the death that was owed to us by turning our backs on God. The only way we could come back to restitution with Him is by accepting Jesus to take our place in the punishment. Morbid some may say, but Jesus was born on this earth for one reason, to die for you and me. Now that is a wonderful gift. But the story does not end there. Three days later death would be conquered. The one buried after being taken down from the cross would raise up to new life.

As you look on this holiday under the tree in your living room these packages come in many shapes and colors. Don’t forget that there are many types of people in this world. Various backgrounds, different shapes, unique colors, I ask that you look beyond just what is the outer wrapping, and look towards what lies beneath. A human soul. One that needs love and truth.

Merry Christmas and let’s take this Joy to the World!

His Mercy is New Every Morning

After a restless night and finally giving up the fight to sleep around 4:15 or so, I decided to get up and get some of the things taken care of that I’ve been putting off for way to long. Some housework, personal things (updating this blog) as well as some business stuff that needed addressing. I feel as if I’ve already been productive and it’s only 7:00! If you were not able to see the sunrise this morning, it was breathtaking! It reminded me of what lies beyond the beautiful scenes that we take for granted. The hope that is found in our future, more than makes up for the trials that we face from day to day.

After studying 1 Peter last night, I felt convicted that I am very consumed with the things of this world… Why should I be worried about the future? God knows what’s in store, and it’s for me to be more Christ like. Whatever trials are coming my way are to get me to that point. By grinding down the rough edges, lightly buffing areas here and there, and even chiseling away the parts of my character that are unattractive.

Here are some pictures I took this morning of that beautiful sunrise! What will you do with this day?

Bojangles’ for Dummies

Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits. Also famous for their “chicken boxes” and now for thanksgiving you can even get a “turkey box” in participating locations.

Someone asked me the other day (Rudy) where did the name Bojangles’ Come from? Well Rudy, I’m glad you asked. Actually, the restaurants, named for the song written by Jerry Jeff Walker, “Mr. Bojangles”. It is one of his most well-known song, and tells about an obscure alcoholic but a talented tap-dancing drifter named, you guessed it, Mr. Bojangles. Bojangles is thought to have been a folk character who entertained informally in the south of the US and California, and some say he might have been one of the most gifted natural dancers ever. Authentic reports of him exist from the 1920s through about 1965. The song actually reached the top ten on the billboard charts in 1971.

Here’s how it goes…

Bojangles’ began in 1977 as the dream of operators Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas. They saw an opportunity to develop a quick service restaurant chain based on three attributes:

  1. A distinctive, spicy flavor profile
  2. Wholesome, high-quality made-from-scratch products
  3. A fun, festive restaurant design with fast, friendly service.

Other Interesting notes…

  • It is rumored that there are trace amounts of crack laced into Bojangles’ Iced Tea due to it’s addictive nature.
  • Ironically on their website they actually have nutritional facts. Stating that there is some nutritional value.
  • The location on Western Blvd. has given a new definition to “fast food.” Usually by the time you’ve paid for the food, it’s at the end of the line waiting for you and some signature Cajun seasoning salt.
  • Bojangles’ is offering gift certificates for that special someone this holiday season.
  • If you want a Chicken Filet Sandwich Combo, you have to specify, or else you will receive a Chicken Fillet Biscuit combo.
  • Bojangles’ International is just that, international. There are locations in the US as well as Honduras and Mexico. Maybe one day there will be one opened in New Mexico as well.
  • Certain locations now cater… (insert mental note for that rehearsal dinner.)
  • Great place for discipleship to take place.

There’s your background. Now join me in a 2 piece dinner, fries, free iced tea.
